He is absolutely correct. I can't count the number of people who I have seen with their Hood stuck up in the air because they had regularly "OILED" its' hinges using that Wonderful WD-40. A little motor oil and a few wiggles always got them back down, much to the amazement of the WD-40 devotee. The label has no real lubrication claim. It is essentially silicone.
