I once had a problem with my TR3 like your's. I had installed a 60kv
kickass coil with optical trigger from Allison, among other mods. Ran
great and always started. One day I decided to use my new Gunson
Colortune, this is a clear sparkplug where you can see the color of the
burning fuel. Anyway, after I removed the plug and reinstalled the
regular plug, I forgot to reattach the wire. Started car, car died, wold
not start again. Found out I zapped the rotor. Moral of the story:
Electricity will always find the fastest and easiest way to ground. And
when you have 60kv looking for a home it will jump right through a rotor
forming an arc trail. Hope this helps. Look for high resistance in the
high volt side of the spark.

Cheers,
