If it's anything like the TR6, it looks like plain old caulking to keep out
water. When I replaced mine, I laid down a bead of silicon caulk.

Does anyone know what the black tar like substance is thats used
under the chrome finishing strip ontop of the spitfire MK1 windscreen
frame? I'm ready to put mine back on but not sure what to use there.
