That brings to mind a situation that happened to me in the early '70's.

I aquired an engine that originally came out of a (I think) 63
Corvette.  It was
a 375 HP, 327.  I tried unsuccessfully to get the mechanical injection
system
to perform adequately and finally gave in to an Offenhauser "tarantula"
manifold
and a 750cfm Spread-bore Holly.  With a hot roller cam and radical head
work, the
engine was pumping out over 500 HP.  I put the beast into a 67 Camaro I
had at the
time and with the extremely high gears, I swear that if I had been able
to keep it
on the road, that thing would have gone 200mph.

So much for my memories of days gone by
