I gotta agree with the second point, namely, the only time the roof was
on my car when I used to drive it regularly was when:
a) it was raining, and
b) the car was standing still.

The sunny-day-only convertible driver is a bit of a poser (albeit a much
lesser one) as well. ;-)

Of course this all comes from a person who neglected to drive his TR6
for 9 years while enjoying a VW GTI. So trash me if you wish... But when
I did drive it, the top was always down!

PS. Not intended as a "my dad can beat up your dad" exchange, I
personally just like to have the roof off all the time. On the VW I
usually have the sunroof open.

The explanation is simple...you have a real sports car!
They don't
build such a thing in Japan...and only barely on the
continent.

BTW, what did you mean "If the sun is bright, the top is
outta sight"?
What do you think 4th gear, 3500 RPM and the windshield are
for???

             Cheers!

Wow! I recant my nomination of the Merc. 450SL as the droptop
that's
never seen with the topdown. My new nominee? The Mazda Miata!
Let me explain. Today, we finally got a spectacular spring
afternoon,
sunny, temps in the high 60's. Me and the Mrs. went for a tour
of the
beaches in our area.(Rhode Island) From Charlestown to
Narranganset we
enjoyed a perfect top down day. Thing is, we must've seen at
least a
dozen, if not more, Miata's. And guess what-only ONE had the top
down!
I don't get it. For me, this is perfect top down weather, not
the
broiling mid summer days that melt your butt into the vinyl.
So what's up with the Mazda crowd? I've been driving droptop's
of all
makes for 23 years now, and I've never seen a bigger bunch of
fakers!
Excepting, maybe, the gold neck chain and Corvette guys of the
Disco
        Era!
I'd swear several of them had the windows rolled up and the A/C
on! Is
this the car of choice for people who want the sports car image,
but
can't stand to get their hair messed up?
Or, maybe the toupee needs a reglue? I hate to group people, but
the
word "poser" surely seem to fit!
As for me, I intend to keep using the TR6 way it should be- If
the sun
is bright, the top is outta sight! (Also summer nights cruising
        topless!)
Well thanks for letting me rant! I just can't figure why you'd
buy a
convertable and then never use it's best feature.
