I recently spoke with a friend who manages a auto restoration/customizing
business about frame painting per the recent threads on the list. He offered
another method which they use on a lot of the driver cars and custom cars.
The frame is  throughly cleaned and all old undercoating is removed. The
frame is then sent out for "painting/coating" by a company that specializes
in spray-on truck bedliners. He says the material is extremely tough and will
not chip.
