As the "classic" Michelin X radial was a factory-approved and 
factory-installed option almost from the start of TR production, I doubt 
this is the case. Some automakers in the 1970s made a big advertising 
deal about "radial tuned suspensions"; for the most part it was just 
hype. There can be some "tuning" of suspension bushings and such to take 
advantage of the better handling of a radial, I'll grant you.

Short answer, if you actually enjoy DRIVING a TR, radials will keep you 
far happier than will OEM Dunlop Gold Seals and other bias-ply tires, and 
with no adverse effects.
