with the load.  So bending it back will only cause it to fail more 
quickly.  A gas blow torch probably won't get it hot enough (especially 
if it's still connected to the engine) to do any good.  If you want the 
part to move without causing further chance of failure, it has to be at 
or above the eutectic point (bright red).  And I wouldn't want that in 
the engine compartment (yeah, the carburetors are on the other side, but 
the fuel pump isn't, and the gaskets sealing that plate aren't  
flameproof, either <g>).  If you feel you have to straighten the part 
with heat, take it off the car.
