Dave, I tried Grose jets in my carbs and they leaked worse than the
standard set up. About all you can do is replace the original float
valves. On my TR6 I never fill the tank more than 3/4 full unless I
am going to be doing a lot of driving. It seems to be around 5/8 full
when the gas level gets higher than the carbs. I thought of putting a
simple lever type shut off valve in the gas line that I could close
when I garaged the car. I think the seepage is pretty slow, the car
has had to stand foer a couple of weeks or more before I see any gas
in the oil.

I didn't change the filter, but I did empty it out. You don't need to
flush, the gas already gave the engine an enema.

I've wondered several times if this could cause an engine to explode
if it was allowed to run long enough.

Interestingly, I've never had this problem with my TR3 with SU carbs.

Incidentally, as another gentleman pointed out, a hole in the fuel
pump diaphragm will also cause this problem, but usually the engine
suffers from fuel starvation at the same time.

Good Luck, keep us posted. What I like best about this list is
hearing about the resolution of problems. Wer'e all in this
masochistic mess together.
