Another pesky little problem/question on the 78 Sit 1500. I just noticed a
steady drip of brake fluid running down the back of the pedal lever and
dripping from the pedal making a nice puddle in the capet of the drivers
floor! Presumably this fluid is coming down from the master cyl.; over a
week, driving about 100 miles the fluid level in the m.c. is down about in
inch. I topped that up today before heading to the shop tommorrow. Also of
note is a rubbery squeaky sound coming from under the m.c. when the brake is
depressed. Brake function seems to have deteriorated as the fluid level has
gone down (my imagination?). I detect no leak of fluid under the bonnet
where I can see the m.c. directly.
Does this mean the m.c. needs replacing? rebuilding? or simply a line needs
tightening? Can the brakes suddenly fail from this? Is this dangerous or
just another nuisance (I should be able to spell that by now as a new LBC
owner!). As always, thanks in advance for ideas/advice.........Ed
