Hello fellow Triumph nuts! I am looking for an apparently rare wheel. I
purchased 3 15"x5.5" American Racing Equipment aluminum wheels, assuming that
it would be a cinch to find a fourth. Not so! This wheel, known as
"LeMans", (so I'm told) is a four spoke mag. The center and spoke portion of
the wheel are rough finish and generally tan/grey in color. The spokes are
wide at the center and taper rapidly almost to a point as the spoke joins the
rim of the wheel, where the finish becomes a machined/polished finish. The
wheel fits TR6, 4 on 4.5" pattern, of course, but I use the term "fits"
loosely. Apparently the offset isn't quite right, so the wheels must be
fitted along with 3/8" spacers. If spacers are not used, the inboard edge of
the rim contacts the ends of the upper wishbone when the wheel is turned
slightly. There is also a 6" variation of the wheel which I have also seen
fitted to TR6s, but the wheel I'm looking for is a 5.5"!
