Hello all,

Sorry about the crappy subject heading, I forgot!

Anyway, this weekend I spent the saturday changing the front dampers and
steering rack, all went well, got the tracking sorted out, car did steer
lovely, no excessive bump steer, it didn't wallow around at speed, great I
thought, all ready for Holland this coming weekend for the International
Spitfire Weekend. Then Sunday evening after a 60(ish) mile drive around I
pulled the car onto the drive at home only to have the front verticle link
(LH side)shear. This is the third one that I have had go in 20 months and
37000 miles, the first went on New Years Eve 1993, the second in March '94 and
then yesterdays. I regularly oil the bloody things all to no avail, ANY ideas
why this keeps happening to me, I know that I am overweight, but not by THAT
much :-)

Also, while I'm here, my fuel and temp guages don't read correct, I've changed
the voltage stabiliser but that made no difference, any ideas on that, like how
to check the stabiliser etc.

Also, any opinions on my mental condition regarding taking a 22 year old rusty
Spitfire overseas so far from home, especially considering it's tendency to eat
verticle links and the fact I have NO breakdown cover(I'm skint).

Rich.
