my supplier over here says its not possible to do that but there are
some holes drilled in the crank weights and the vibrations were not
terrible so i strongly suspect someone has tried that.

i guess i'll know by the vibrations after i start it up again.

if this is the case i'll have to get a new crank and rebalance the
assembly.    that'll be fun - trying to find somewhere in the uk to do
that and pay less than $1500 :(
