My Mk1a has a remote oil filter. My Mk1 has a small filter in place of
the stock setup. Both cars run cool, even in hot weather. I have a six
blade fan on both. I noticed that my Mk1 temp gauge reads slightly
(although negligibly) hotter with the fan shroud installed at idle and
on the freeway.
