Has anyone tried one of those waxes that you let dry, then wipe off
the resulting whitish film, to protect the body from the hard top
seals? Might a real heavy coat of one of these produce a thick enough
     film to do some good?

I would really hesitate to put any tape like products on my paint.
There's so many coats there that I'd worry about pulling off paint
     when I removed it.

How about Saran wrap, or a similar plastic film, with static cling?
Or strips of that "rubber magnetic sign" material?

My hard top hasn't been on since I shot the calendar photos (see
December), and I can't remember the time before that.
