1976 pistons compatible with 1979?

I want to put the higher compression pistons of the '76 9.0 compression
engine into my '79 7.5 compression engine.  I wanted to ask the list to
verify that these pistons are identical in every way to each other save
the piston face.  Is this correct?  Can I put in the 9.0 pistons without
any problem?
