It does in fact come out. Once all the bolts are removed, it can be tilted
forward and removed. The lower post brackets/clamps must also be removed
(two bolts on each side way up under there) to allow the unit to tilt out
of the way. I have done it many years ago when I restored my 1970 years
ago. Not a fun job, but it can be done.
By the way, the doors are not really quite the same as Spitfire doors.
While they will fit except for the windows which would not be correct, the
GT6 doors have a small section welded inside them to accept the wing
assemblies (if you look down into where the window slides, near the front
you'll see it. It would prevent you from putting a Spitfire window in).
While it can be cut out and used as a Spitfire door it's much more
difficult to do the reverse -
