Since you have the case open, you could pour in some mineral spirits and turn
the
shafts around to wash off things. Then drain it, and leave the case open until
the mineral spirits
have evaporated. Mineral spirits are safer and less poisonous than gasoline.
Then I would install it and fill it with oil, and change the oil after a couple
of miles of easy driving.
