Peter, I have two words for you:
Hazard Switch!
Actuate the hazard switch (four-way flasher) 10 to 15 times. This may
bring those blinkers 'back to life'!
The current for the blinkers goes through the Hazard. Since it is rarely
used, corrosion builds up & the turn signals don't work anymore.
"Excercising" it periodically keeps everything working.
