Ian,

$650 sounds a bit steep to me for used parts.  I just bought a
reconditioned overdrive gearbox for 150UKpounds (I think thats about
$220).  By the time you add in the overdrive unit itself, shift lever,
propshaft and all the other stuff you need, this probably be paying not
much more than this for new/recon parts.  (This was from John Kipping in
the UK, BTW.)  On the other hand, I don't know about availability of
these parts, so if there's any problems getting them, or if you're on a
really tight budget and you'd rather get used than recon, then go for it
- it's certainly not way overpriced.
