I agree that actual rim use *may* vary as different tires or brands have
slightly different sidewall construction, but you can only put so much angle
into the sidewall before the tire stops supporting itself, and too little
increases NVH, so most tires in a given size tend to fall within the same wheel
width range.
Ron's numbers are a bit confusing to me, as most 225 tires lay up perfect on 7"
rims. 8" tends to be great for 245 tires, unless he's talking about something
other than passenger car tires. Typo maybe?
