Just for the record, I have to ask... I guess telling the husband to
strap on a pair, and say something like "Honey, we've been married for 57
years, and I wanted a new 'fridge, so I bought one. Hey, let's donate
this perfectly good old one to someone who could use it" is out of the
question, right?

This has made for one of the most entertaining shop-talk threads in a
long time, but it seems really silly. It's not like he's trying to buy
himself a Harley or anything... it's a 'fridge. Does she have a birthday
or anniversary coming up? There has to be an easier way to fix this
problem than clandestinely scuttling an appliance.
