Howdy,

So I have a 6hp/30 gal (I think) single stage direct drive Sears
compressor that I'll be upgrading sometime in the near future.

I'd like to have a portable gas powered compressor for use when I'm away
from electricity, and I've been thinking about canabalizing my current
compressor to do it.

I'd assume that I'd want to go to a regular 5hp or so side drive gas
snowblower or similar motor, along with a seperate compressor pump.

Fabricating all the crap to mount stuff up isn't a problem, but I was
curious how I can let the gas motor continue to run without overpressuring
the tank? Is there some kinda bypass I should use?

If there was a way that I could use the current direct drive pump I have,
that would also obviously be cool.

Anyone done this?

Mark
