Almost all the wiring books you see at home centers instruct you within code.
In
addition, especially since you will be having it inspected, consult with your
electrical building inspector before you begin. At least in my town, the
building officials are always willing to give answers to polite questions. Do
some research first, ask "Can I do it like this?" and you will likely get all
the
pointers you need.
I do hear stories, from time to time, about uncooperative building officials. I
don't know those stories 1st hand, so don't know how the parties conducted
themselves. I can only speak to my experience, which has always been favorable
and productive.
