In college, my dormitory was infested with mice. One method we
used for catching them was to put a piece of paper with peanut butter at the
bottom of a plastic trash can. Then we'd drape a
sock over the side so it hung down the outside of the can. Mice
would climb up the sock and jump in. We'd collect a day's worth
and release them on the other side of the grounds.

At the bike shop where I worked, the mice would run across our
benches while we worked. All of the mechanics had Big Gulp
cups we used to catch them. One of our guys had a pet ferret
he'd bring in, and we'd release the mice outside so the ferret
could chase them. Most got away, but not all of them...
That ferret was in heaven when the 17 year cicada's were around.
He'd eat them 'til he got sick!
