Kyle :

I've been using a Hansen HSS set for over 20 years, and the 1/4-28 tap is
the only thing I've worn out (although I've broken a few). TR3 bodies seem
to be "sewn together" with 1/4-28 bolts, and I've loaded that tap on the end
of an air ratchet several times for chasing threads in the captive nuts.

I believe the usual SAE set (both UNF and UNC, from 4-40 through 1/2-13)
should cover 90-95% of your TR6. There are a few odd metric fasteners (like
the studs that mount the speedo and tach and the spark plug threads), as
well as some larger SAE fasteners (like the bolt in the end of the
crankshaft).

You might give some consideration to getting a set with hex-shaped dies
instead of the less expensive round ones. I've run into many situations
where I'd love to be able to turn a die with a socket (like trying to chase
the threads on the lower mounting studs for the front shock absorbers on my
TR3). I eventually made a 'deep' die handle from a 4" length of 1" water
pipe, but IMO a deep 1" socket would work better and be a lot easier to
obtain.
