On the PBS show HOMETIME, they showed this being done on the between-units
walls of a row of townhouses.  They did use fiberglass insulation, and told
us this is a common and effective sound barrier.

BTW, the townhouses are being built by Habitat For Humanity, and are about a
quarter-mile from my house.
