I have a 4 cyl motor in the shop that I pump the water into the head and take
it out of the freeze plugs on the lower side of the block.
I use a washing machine pump to push it in.
My concept for this is that while it is generally good to have the motor hot
to minimise heat loss, heating the mixture and the combustion chamber looses
power by expanding the mixture and preventing as much getting into the
chamber AND a hot mixture pre-ignites more readily requiring a lower
compression ratio for a given octane!
This is more important nowdays with the poor fuel we have available if we
want efficient engines Mr. Toad
