When is the screen fitted to the scuttle at the factory? At the same time
as the convertible top(hood)? A tight fit of the hood would seem to be
assured if windscreen angle was the final adjustment!

Of course, there's also the possibility that the scuttle has wracked
somewhat since new, but that wouldn't account for the measurable difference
in space for  the Brooklands screens. 

Sounds like the only conclusion can be that this is one of those charming
imprecisions attributable to bespoke hand built construction techniques.
