Congratulations James, glad to hear it runs.
My carb heat soak issue manifested itself as a hard re-start when hot.
A spacer between the intake and the carb solved the problem.
Since I'm sure you were out after work, probably late, I don't think you
had a vapor lock issue.
The biggest drivability challenge I faced was carb jetting. I also had
a stumble at, steady to light, throttle. I continually was fiddling.
It turns out I was running waaayy to rich.
My car runs smoothly now, but idles lumpy; but I have no idea what kind
of cam the previous owner of the engine put in when he had it rebuilt.
