John:

The original style clutch throw out bearing causes some drag on the
engine when depressed. It is usually about 200 RPM drop. So, unless it
is really cold, the engine will always crank faster when the
transmission is in neutral and the clutch engaged. The TF could have
the bearing completely worn out and thus creating more drag then usual.
If you remove the transmission cover (tunnel) inside the car and then
open the inspection plate, you may be able to see if the bearing is worn
out.

Use standard US two filiament bulb for 1960s American cars. I think
it's something like 1157 or 2157. There are both small globe types and
large. You want the small globe style.

Speedometer cables should never be greased except for using speedometer
cable lube, powdered graphite, or even left dry. That's because most
greases become hard with dirt and the cable will no longer turn
smoothly. Remove the inner cable and completely de grease it.
Disconnect the out cable at both ends. Drizzle or spray a cleaner into
the outer housing next to the speedometer and then blow it out with
air. Do it several times. Then lubicate with speedo cable lube, dry
graphite, or leave dry. Powdered graphite is about the best. Speedo
cable lube is usually graphite with a fast drying carrier so it flows
everywhere before drying out.
