I had need for a bit of investigation of the color (proper spelling) Autumn
Red for a 1952 MG YB Restoration I am undertaking. Following is the results
of that investigation:

Notes on the Martin-Senour formula for Autumn Red. (Martin-Senour is a
branch of Sherwin-Williams, as is Acme). The formula is for a basecoat
component os a basecoat/clearcoat system. The color number is RD6 and the
paint number is 99P-20216. It is made from four basic mixing colors
(actually 3 colors and a mix drier). This is the formula for making one
gallon:

Color Weight (after adding) Amount added

9801 Black 62.1g 62.1g
9806 D. Orange 372.0 310g
9835 Drier 552.0 180g
9816 T. Maroon 3656.0 3104g

I also have the formula for the Autumn Red in M-S's Synthol (Acrylic
Enamel): 90N-20216

Color Weight (after adding) Amount added

9038 Orange 80.0g 80.0g
9000 Drier 260.0 180g
9020 T. Maroon 3448.0 3188g

I know not what the "T" stands for in T. Maroon, but it is one of the most
expensive colors.

Above thanks to Bud Krueger :-)

Now, I do not know what all of this means, but I gave it to my painter who
has just recently began painting the various bits of the YB and it looks
great and matches all of the samples I have been able to locate of the
Autumn Red used on the 1952 YB.
