Mike,
Well I ordered the four Harley boots as at $6.25 Cdn each I was not going to
bother with cutting and splicing VW ones. I also didn't like the idea of a
split boot. In addition, I was not too careful comparing brake cable lengths
so found I had installed a new J2 rear cable instead of PA. Differences in
inner and outer cable lengths from the chassis connection back to the rear
brake back plate. So I shortened the outer cable and had to lengthen the
inner cable with an "adapter" at the rear clevis. This adapter would have
given me even more trouble fitting the VW boots so I went Harley. We will
see.
Thanks again for all the input.

I am surprised at the results of your little poll, regarding the
preference of the VW boots over the Harley ones.

I suspect anyone who recommends the VW ones have never seen or used the
Harleys, which are several orders of magnitude easier to install and to my
eye look closer to original, as far as I can tell from photographs.

This is just my 2 cents worth, but having installed both types I would
never go back to the VWs.
