I am not now nor have I ever been a SCTA official. However I have just gone
back and reread the rule book and I see no requirement that anyone present
their car for reinspection because of an engine replacement that does not
result in a class change. I personally have not gone for reinspection when
replacing a damaged engine. Think about it, if you replaced a holed piston
you will have removed and replaced the intake with all plumbing and
controls, removed and replaced at least one head, and removed and replaced
the pan with oil lines if you have a dry sump. Would you then go through
tech?
Once again, I do not speak for the SCTA. Use your best judgement. I would
not run in any class with an engine that was not legal for the class.
Performance trophys are awarded without teardown, and I wouldn'twant one
that I didn't deserve. Rich Fox
