  FWIW: the same or similar Aluminum/rubber compound was also 
used to make the tires for the XB-70, 
IIRC those are a much larger tire.

 Aircraft tires might be a good source of tires. 
as I understand it,
the Phoenix Land-Speed diesel truck uses tires from a 707 & a 727.
