Yes, much easier removing the bolts from the block and have the head=0Ao=
n the bench to extract and replace the gasket properly. On the early=0A1=
00, due to the tilt of the bracket, you cannot drop the middle fixing=0A=
bolt from the canister and then get the unit out of the car-either=0Atop=
side or from bottom...you must remove the whole unit from the block=0Aan=
d bench it-also easier to fill up with oil to prime the filter prior=0At=
o starting. The later 100 production modified the filter body to take=0A=
it away from the motor mount, but its still easier to take it from the=
=0Ablock and replace the paper gasket as well. Way less mess and positiv=
