UH OH! that is your slugglish issue! I would drain that oil (for rear=0A=
ends) and replace it with the 30W ND. That rear end oil foams in the=0Aa=
nnullus and plays hell with the spring pressure, passage thru the=0Asyst=
em and fast clutch engagement. Check it out on the web...that=0Aheavy fi=
sh oil is not for British Trannys. If you put the heavy stuff=0Ain to st=
op leaks, that's not the answer; neither is synthetic-too=0Athin.The gea=
rbox and OD were designed to run on conventional=0Aoil...ancient as it m=
ay seem. Yes, a small air compressor is enough of=0Aa blast to clear pas=
sages. You will probably hear the clutch pistons=0Aengage if air is put o=
n the valve opening. If you remove the spring,=0Aball, and plunger with=
a magnet, you can then extract the valve and=0Arun a small wire down th=
e middle to clean it-then a blast of air-be=0Acareful to not get any lin=
t from a shop rag into the mix. Upon=0Arebuilding a unit it is "suggeste=
d" to carefully enlarge the valve=0Ahole to 1mm (but cleanliness is prob=
ably best solution). The new=0Apistons sold today, and made by Overdrive=
Spares, (old Laycock group)=0Aare equipped with rubber o-rings. Good th=
at you replaced the tire=0Abushings! Hank=0A=0A=09----------------------=

RE: RE: [Healeys] Drove the Healey today?!=0A=0A=09Yes thanks for the t=
ip. The problem is slow to engage. It was=0Asuggested maybe accumulator=
O ring. Just did pull the check valve and=0Aall. Did seem like dirty oi=
l. I cleaned it all up. I=E2=80=99m already=0Acommitted to extracting th=
e accumulator and piston but wanted to=0Areplace all the tranny mounts a=
nd bushings which I did. Mounts were=0Apretty squished and cracked. Bush=
ings(radiator saver)were fairly solid=0Abut were replaced. They were the=
 original. Cleaning and degreasing as=0AI go along.=0A=0A=09 If(?)it is=
the O ring or rings, I guess they are metal on the=0Apiston, I might ju=
st spring for a uprated from Dennis Welch or AH=0Aspares has a combo hou=
sing/piston both which have rubber O rings. =0A=0A=09 Working my way to=
the extraction part. I want to use forced air=0Athrough the operating v=
alve but I only have a small air compressor for=0Atires. Some kind of ex=
traction tool would be helpful. (18G182) I have=0Aalways changed tranny=
oil regularly. Used ND 30 early on. Using MT 90=0Anow for many years.=
