I?ve got the same unit. Calls itself something different over here and is 240v,
but it looks 100% identical. I?ve connected the wire that comes with ring
connectors onto the terminals as a permanent fix so I just need to push the
connector on whenever I need to perk up the battery.

Fred:

Over the years, I?ve found that NAPA has had good batteries. The secret with
any of these batteries is to keep a battery maintainer / charger on them most
of the time in order to keep the battery from sulfating, because they tend to
sit for fairly long periods between drives. This has worked for me for years
with RV batteries, collector car batteries, etc.

I finally changed the tri-carb?s battery after 13 years awhile back ? it didn?t
fail, but I simply didn?t want to push things. I think it was an old Delco.

The Optima batteries are fine, (more expensive) but probably not necessary in a
Healey.

I use the Battery Minder brand ? I?ve got several of them.

I took a stroll thru the archives but not find difinitive answers to my hunt.

I need to replace a 2 year old Interstate battery in my BJ8. The archives
mention Interstate (I'm not impressed with them) and the gel based batteries.

What experiences have people had with dependability and longevity as well as
starting strength with batteries? Should I consider Diehard in the mix?

Thanks,

Fred,
