I watched on Youtube. There was a lot of bumping and grinding in the SFR r=
ace. A friend of mine's son, Dave Ogburn, finished P2 despite taking hit t=
o the left rear under under the first double yellow. I understand it knocke=
d the left rear toe way out to where his steering wheel was about 45 degree=
s off. According to his dad, Car was doing a lot of crabbing.

If you=92re referring to what I think you=92re referring to (big square pie=
ce of flat metal that flew up in the air as a driver went through Turn 1), =
that was a part of the undertray dislodged by some pretty stout nose to tai=
l contact. It was the part that goes under the radiator and back to the fo=
otwell. That=92s probably 5 pounds of pretty sturdy aluminum sheet with sh=
arp corners and edges. Cars are motoring through that corner at around 85 =
mph. If that thing had come down on someone, it would have been a very bad=
 day.

But, yes, I do spend some time dodging dislodged body panels from time to t=
ime.

I agree that just finishing in these races is a win. Not sure that I would =
go back next year. With it being so far away (I am in far eastern MA), its=
tough to get there during the season to learn the track better to be compe=
titive. I need to check my odometer, but I think it was about 2800 miles r=
ound trip.

I watched the SRF race from the viewing area at turn 5 with the big screen.=
Saw on the screen the rear corner of body work flying off and was glad to=
see that it did not land on anyone, but didn't know if someone later hit i=
t. JoeB

Man, if I=92d have known there were so many FOT=92ers around the Runoffs pa=
ddock, I=92d have hosted a party! We carry a portable =93wood fired=94 (pr=
opane) pizza oven that cranks out some pretty good pizza. Maybe next year?

I was there with my Spec Racer Ford. Our group had a similar week. So man=
y crashes, body panels flying everywhere, Virtual Safety Car sessions. But=
even the Spec Wrecker Fords are smart enough not to go through The Kink 3 =
wide. We have a strict limit of 2 wide.

With all the interrupted quali sessions, my quali did NOT go at all well an=
d I ended up in 44th of 57 cars. But I moved up to 31st in the race, most=
ly by not dying, getting the car to the finish line in one piece. I=92m ca=

Anthony, I did not get a chance to stop by your paddock, but saw you drivin=
g around down in the north paddock at one point during the week. Did not s=
ee you at the NER party Tuesday night. I was racing in my FP Miata. My so=
n was there too in my Bumble Bee Miata, but blew the engine Monday afternoo=
n. No one was willing to sell their spare engine, so he went home sad. Wh=
ile I had the same HP as the winning Miata with a Prather engine, I needed =
to find another 10 seconds (found 8 for my first qualifying session, but st=
ill needed 10 more to be in the mix). First time at RA and only got one fu=
ll test day session and one full qualifying. Others were cut to 2 or 3 lap=
s due to crashes. I was surprised by the number of crashes in most groups =
during the week. FP Miata driver paddocked next to me went to the hospital=
(dropped a wheel off coming out of carousel, spun and hit wall), one Spec =
Miata driver was air lifted out during qualifying (trying to go 3 wide thru=
kink), while others went by ambulance to hospital, GT1 driver, Lou Gigliot=
ti, who started his race career in what is now my TR3A, went to hospital wi=
th multiple fractures.

My goal for the race was just to keep my nose clean (Jesse Prather's advice=
too) and finish. I started 23rd and finished 15th. Had a couple cars to =
race with at the back, so that kept it interesting. Only got down to 1:46.=
3.
