Make sure you didn't blow the amp meter out. It can act as a giant fuse. If
you have no power to ANYTHING lights etc then look at the amp meter. Black
puff on the glass is a dead giveaway. Take a pair of alligator clips with a
short wire and jump out the 2 small lugs on the back (behind dash) of the
gauge.
If the power comes on? Time for EBAY

I just bought a 1968 roadster 1600 - battery was corroded and I put a new
attery in, but crossed the wires and now, have absolutely now power. I have
ad the alternator rebuilt and the guy said the diodes were fine. I'm thinking
need to replace the starter, but am stuck to getting the starter out -
uggestions or steps to removing the starter?
