Larry,

'68's and later models all had the newer style dash and narrower
center console with the vertically mounted radio. I saw a Jensen
radio yesterday that almost fit the bill. It was a digital radio with
a flat faceplate but the body of the radio was shaped to fit an old
style analog hole setup. The faceplate had "wings" that fit flush
with the console for some of the controls and had umbilicals feeding
through the old analog tuner and volume shaft holes. Clever bit of
retro engineering. It required a center rectangular hole a half inch
larger than the cutout in my '69 so I put that one on hold while I
consider my options of something else or enlarging the hole in the
console. I'd rather not do that but will think on it. The radio
itself is a discontinued model that a local electronics shop on the
highway has in their dusty section but it is NIB. A good deal at $100
if I decide to got that route. So far, it's the closest thing I've
seen that has fairly recent technology but a hardware configuration
that fits the old analog cutouts. Now if I can get that with XM, an
MP3 player, and a GPS navigation screen........ :-)

There's plenty of old radios on ebay that might fill the bill. Seems
like a lot of Blaupunkt and Becker radios are listed these days from
the analog days. Just about any one of them would work but none have
a vertical tuning dial.
