I believe that this is the famous float bow orientation that causes the the
car to stall while cornering.
Rotate the float bowls on the carb and the problem goes away.
Someone else can chime in with the details since I don't have a 2000.

After taking a fast corner I temporarily lose power. A shame since that what
the car is so well suited for.
