I remember having a discussion with Joe Curto many moons ago and he said the
pistons and domes were matched sets. They weren't machined to fit but by
pick and test they assembled the sets.

I have an old Datsun book and they said the same thing. I know from
experience that when the sets are interchanged they rise and fall at
different rates.

I always mark the carbs when they are disassembled or use wire to keep them
together.

I seriously doubt that they were matched at the factory. I suspect that it
is a matter of wearing in over the years.
