Dunno who cares, except maybe the PD in my town. In order to re-register my
car since it had gone off the DMV computer system, I had to have the police
come out to verify that the VIN on the frame matched the registration. Maybe
this is only in California, but it's something to keep in mind.

cares that the VIN on the registration no longer matches the VIN on the

Just to be safe, swap over the VIN ID tag, too. I had a '67 411 sedan
with black CA plates (VEP 841, I believe). Swap its ID tag; it's close
enough.
