Hoon,
I had one of those and it turned out to be the exhaust mount next
to the front cross member. There is a retaining bracket that is welded to
the frame and the weld broke. I mickey moused it so that it didn't hit
the frame and floorboard and I haven't had any noise sense. It may be
something else, but it's worth a look.

Subject: Loud rattle in 1st gear.
More strange noises.
I'm getting a very loud repetative rattle that is linked to the
engine. The harder I press the gas pedal, the faster the rattle is.
The rattle only comes on in first, not at all in any other gears.
Help!
