I am by no means an electrical guy but I have been trying to rebuild all the
wiring harnesses as part of a major overhaul. My car barely ran when I
drove it home a few years ago and I am still amazed that it started at all.
Basically, the wiring was bare everywhere nad the underdash stuff was the
worst. It showed cut and dangling wires plus ones that looked like they had
been burned up years before I discovered them. Someone even replaced some
under-the-hood wiring w/ appliance electrical cord. Something like an
indoor lamp cord. Man!!! I can't help with your exact problem but do know
that there are several sites where you can find the proper wiring diagram.
Mine is a '69 2000 and it has the six fuse - fuse box in the glove box. I
found that the diagram has a few inconsistencies but most of all was very
comparable to my harnesses. If yours looks as bad as mine then it is likely
a good time to at least pull them and do some repair and rewrap work. I can
only guess from all the electrical related emails on this list that a lot of
guys are just running on luck. I only wish I had one of those running
roadsters. Hopefully next year. Best of luck! Larry in Calgary.

After tracing wires, cleaning contacts, testing switches, etc. I finally got
all my lights, turn signals, dash lights, and the high/low beams to work the
way they were supposed to (not sure what I did right).

I called my wife out to show her my handiwork and puff out my chest at
overcoming the electrical gremlins in her car. Big mistake.

When I put the light switch back in the dash new gremlins arrived. I should
have just left it hanging. Now when I pull the switch out one notch I get
nothing - no marker lights, no parking lights, no tail lights. The
headlights come on (low beam) when I go to the second notch but no tail
lights and no High beams. Turn signals work just fine.

I have come to the conclusion that there is a loose connection/short in the
wiring bundle under the dash. That is the only thing I touched after
everything started working again. Tomorrow I will pull the seat and dig into
that mass of spaghetti.

Any helpful hints from any unfortunate soul who has delved into the dash
wiring?
