Just completed very enjoyable ride transporting
a friends 240Z across the USA. Traveling down
US 56 in Kansas (a very enjoyable non
interstate way to cross Oklahoma and Kansas)
came across a 66 or 67 1600 in LYONS KS
at the "owners car corner"...some sort of
park it and sell it place. It was parked next to
a rather amazing Edsel station wagon. On the
other side was a Hudson Wasp.
Roadster had some rust, and fair amounts of
bondo, had current plates, looked drivable.
$1450...no one was there but phone number
to the place is 257-2990, plus whatever area code
is for there. No grill, no front bumper, no
1600 Datsun emblems, no side view mirror,
otherwise complete. IMHO would be
a tough but doable candidate for resto. Had
crude welding done to body under battery.
Had new master cyl with little fluid,
probably has brake problems. Rest of
engine room very unrestored but all there.
No trunk lock, and was unable to get
trunk lid open. Top all there but pretty
ratty. Interior complete and in surprisingly
good condition, much better than mine when
I started. All trim and pieces there. Nice set
of american racing aluminum wheels.
I figure about 700-900 would be a better
price. I took pics and will scan and send to
anyone who asks. Lyons is right in
the middle of the state on US 56.
