Hello All,
ON a break for studying for finals I was playing with my Solex's
and my new colortune device. This is the clear sparkplug thingy that lets you
see the color of the combustion flame. Wow its neat to be able to look down
and see inside the cylinder. It appears to really work to. I could adjust my
idle mixture from orange (rich) to pale blue(lean) to a dark blue (ideal). I
then
slowly increased the rpm's and watched the color not change (a good thing).
Then I opened the throttle abruptly and saw the acc pump working because the
flame went orangey.. and then back to blue when the rpm's climbed!!
Here's waht I learned.. Only one of my carb's is acting correctly..
on two I coudl not adjust to a rich flame at idle.. Gunsen says that this means
I have a vacumm leak-clogged idle jets.
Off idle the flame colors look good for all of cylinders. I guess this
means that my idle circuit is somehow screwed up???
Anywho, I think the colortune is really neat and any Badroc'er who
wants to use it just let me know..
                Daniel 69 2000

p.s. if anyone else out there has a colortune I would like to hear your
experience's with it.
