Wow-
Nothing personal, man! Yes, I agree, the car LOOKS good, and it may
turn out that the only rust that's there is the visible rust. If so, it
WOULD be a pretty straightforward fix, if you can find donor sills and
arches and stuff. Not CHEAP, tho, unless you do it yourself!
But in the cars I've looked at and worked on, if you see that much
perforation, there's gonna be a lot more rust you can't see in places
LIKE the rockers- the doorposts, inner sills and fenders and so on.
Places that rust out a year after you've just fixed all the 'problems'.
Maybe it's a coastal car, which tend to rust agressively, but only in
spots. But you won't find that out until you get into it. Like I said,
there are many who can and would save the car, (most of them British!)
But perhaps I'm spoiled- in the NW it's hard to find a clean, complete
car, true, but it's easy to find a cheap shell that's pretty rust-free.
So I guess my advice was, "don't pay too much for this car, as it could
turn out to have a LOT of rust." Maybe not. But it's a gamble for much
over $2000.

And as to the personal comments, that's rude. My girlfriend's been
going thru some rough medical problems, (and YES, has gotten rather
"flabby" and lost most of her hair) so I'm not particularly amused.
I do gather, tho, that you bought the car?

Toby
Rather peeved
