Something to note, I have been looking into shorter shifter extensions
on the rover 5-speed gearboxes for my TR7 V8 conversion. I have been
looking for the TR8 size. But in my search, I have found that RPI
engineering in the UK has new and used rover 5-speed gearboxes, the bell
housings that always seem in short supply, and they have a short steel
version of the shifter extension housing that you may want to look
into. They said it is a few inches!! shorter than the stock alloy types
found of the TR7/TR8/SD1 cars. Check it out!!!
